In the 1990s, Dr Phil Parker was asked by his patients if could find a new way to help them as their health issues just weren’t responding to the usual treatments.
His research led him to explore if using the way the Brain, Mind and Body all affect each other might provide some new solutions.
He’d been fascinated with this field since he’d used it to recover from a serious hand injury and was intrigued by the research that was being done by others in the field.
Using his background as a university researcher and lecturer, a Registered Osteopath, a therapist and a coach he created a set of tools that help people to positively impact their health using the brain-mind-body connection.
Over the 25 years we’ve seen the LP grow from an idea that provided change for Phil’s clients, to a world-wide phenomenon, used by over 75,000 people, with a growing body of research.
Phil continues to use his research PhD in the Psychology of Health to develop the LP further and support the ongoing research into the LP. He has co-authored 9 papers on the LP, the brain-mind-body connection and positive psychology and his 5 books and work have been translated into many different languages.
We asked him how it feels to pioneer a new approach that has helped so many, he said, ‘It’s been a truly fascinating journey so far. New ideas, no matter how much they are based on science or genuinely change lives, aren’t always readily accepted at first, but with time they become part of the everyday experience – and we’re already beginning to see that. And, as ever, there’s so much more work for us all to do to bring hope, health and a better future to all.’
