The LP Seminar Protocol
The Lightning Process (LP): A Brain-Mind-Body Training for Chronic Health Issues
What is the Lightning Process?
The Lightning Process (LP) is a unique brain-mind-body training programme designed to help you take back control of your health. It teaches practical, science-based tools to retrain how your brain and body respond to stress, symptoms, and illness.
The LP is not a treatment in the traditional sense. Instead, it empowers you to work with your brain and nervous system in a new way—supporting your body’s natural ability to heal and improve.
People have used the LP to support recovery from a variety of chronic conditions including:
- Long Covid
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME)
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic pain
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
- Anxiety, depression, and other emotional health challenges
You can find research papers on all these issues here.
If you’ve been living with ongoing symptoms and are looking for something new that puts you back in the driver’s seat of your health, the LP is worth exploring.

How the Lightning Process Works
The LP combines ideas from neuroscience, psychology, coaching, and mindfulness. It’s delivered through interactive seminars and guided practice, helping you understand and apply the tools step-by-step.
The programme has two main phases:
- Understanding the Brain-Mind-Body Connection
In this phase, you’ll learn:
- How chronic illness can become “wired in” by the brain and nervous system
- The science of neuroplasticity – your brain’s ability to change and adapt
- How language and thought patterns affect your physical health
- Why you’re not to blame for your illness – and why you do have the ability to influence change
This part of the course helps you build a strong foundation for using the tools effectively. You’ll start to see how real, lasting change is possible.
- Learning and Using Practical Tools
You’ll be guided through a simple, structured process to:
- Recognise patterns (thoughts, feelings, body responses) that may be keeping symptoms going
- Pause those patterns using a specific ‘stop’ technique
- Replace them with tools that encourage healing, including self-coaching, movement, voice techniques, and memory recall
- Begin to shift your physiology (nervous system, heart rate, breathing, stress hormones, muscle tension) in a healthier direction
These tools are based on proven psychological and neurological research and are taught in a supportive, step-by-step way.
What to Expect From the LP Training
The LP is a 3-day programme, with preparation before and support afterwards.
Before the Seminar
You’ll listen to a 4-hour audio programme and have a 1-hour coaching call with your trainer. This will:
- Introduce the core ideas of the LP
- Help you explore whether this approach is a good fit for you
- Begin building self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-coaching skills
During the Seminar
You’ll attend three half-day group sessions (in person or online), with a small group (usually 3–8 people) led by a registered LP practitioner.
Here’s what each day typically looks like:
Day 1: Getting Started
- Learn how language affects your brain and body
- Explore a new way of thinking about your illness—one that sees change as possible
- Begin to understand your brain’s role in healing
- Start learning and practicing the LP tools in a supportive environment
- Set a personal, realistic goal to work on between sessions
Day 2: Deepening the Tools
- Review your progress so far with your trainer
- Explore how your expectations and beliefs affect healing
- Learn why it’s common to focus on symptoms, and how to shift focus to improvement
- Practice more advanced uses of the LP steps, including memory and body-based techniques
- Get support with anything that felt difficult from Day 1
Day 3: Building Confidence
- Review progress again and address any challenges
- Learn how to use the tools in real-life situations (e.g. when you’re out and about, around others, or dealing with old triggers)
- Understand how to keep moving forward and avoid falling back into old patterns
- Explore how to use the LP for other areas of life, not just health
- Final questions, next steps, and celebration of progress
After the Seminar: Ongoing Support
Learning the LP doesn’t end after the seminar. You’ll get:
- 3 hours of one-on-one coaching with your trainer
- Downloadable audio resources
- Access to support groups and online forums
- A manual with everything you’ve learned, to support you at home
Is the Lightning Process Right for You?
We understand that trying something new—especially when you’ve been unwell for a long time—can feel like a big decision.
The LP is best suited to people who:
- Are open to exploring how thoughts and body responses are linked
- Want to be actively involved in their own recovery
- Are ready to try something different from conventional medical treatments
- Are not looking for a quick fix, but are committed to learning and practicing new skills
Your trainer will help you decide if the LP is likely to be helpful for you during the preparation stage, before you commit to attending the seminar.
